I am a qualified proofreader with seven years' experience. I have a passion for accuracy and for the English language. I'm one of those people who gets annoyed if I come across a misplaced apostrophe in a newspaper article.
Born and raised in Greater London, I studied BA English Language and Literature at Southampton University and graduated in 2006 with first class honours. In between my studies, I twice visited Africa to undertake voluntary work, firstly spending six months in northern Kenya typesetting materials for a literacy project, and later teaching English to women in South Sudan.
After graduating, I worked as a care worker for a few years before taking a proofreading course. Since then, I have worked with a couple of publishing houses as well as a large number of private clients, from self-publishing novelists to bloggers, students to high-flying businesspeople, academics to children's authors. You can see what some of them have to say about my work here.
When I'm not proofreading or looking after my three children, I can generally be found with my head in a book. I'm a voracious reader and enjoy all sorts of genres, from sci-fi to autobiography to historical novels. I also enjoy writing, and have several projects of my own in the pipeline.
